In case you missed the news, Google's API documents were leaked and contained LOADS of search ranking factors. Google confirmed the document's validity.

I spent a few hours each day going through the leaked document, and I had a lot of feels about it...

• lots of privacy concerns
• loads of anger
• the weight of imposter syndrome on my shoulders

...while also not being as surprised as other people.

I think, if anything, I'm disappointed in myself. Combine this with Google's keynote ish, and it's enough to

• have anyone asking if blogging is dying a slow, painful death like a fish out of water
• wonder if trying to grow a blog now is futile

I'm autistic and struggle with something called alexithymia, which means I struggle to identify and describe my feelings. So I'm not going to keep trying there.

Here's what I'm doing, and what I plan to update you on over the next few months as progress is made:

• Automating whatever can be automated. I've lost a lot of time to tasks that could have been better spent on tasks that can't be automated.
• Focusing on email. Every effort to grow my blog traffic/social media reach will be focused on people subscribing. This one humors me because I'm not great at email? But I'm feeling a bit eh and burnt out about social media lately, so 👀
• Starting a new blog. I was already going to do this, but now it's like...that much more necessary in my opinion?? I have this theory that the "old school" style of blogging is making a comeback, especially considering Gen Z trends, so this is highly experimental.
  • To be clear, I'm actually starting at least three blogs, but I'll be focusing on one at a time because I'm easily overwhelmed. 🥴
• Experimenting on L&L. Google Search feels like a dumpster fire right now. I'm going to be experimenting with different types of content that I wanted to cover for a while, but kept putting off because I felt like I'd be penalized in Google Search. 👀 I don't particularly care as much anymore. 🤷‍♀️
