worth the click issue 2: attend events as press + grey hair at 33 💀

⌚ 4 min read

This is only my second email into reviving my link love column, and I'm really excited. 😅 I started looking forward to this last week after the first one went out. I wish I hadn't stopped them last year.

My hair started turning white/clear from malnutrition. 💀 I hadn't been able to eat properly because of a TMJ flare-up, but I didn't think this would happen, and every time it does, I know my eating disorders (ED) + history are to blame. It's a sick, sinking feeling that happens in the pit of my stomach and makes me feel warm all over like I just did something super embarrassing.

The way my EDs can affect me physically, mentally and cognitively weirds me out so much, because those affects dissipate when I eat enough again. 😅 I once described this as "feeling and seeming like magic" to a conservative, anti-magic (even in fairy tales) relative. 💀 10/10 do not recommend.

I'm tired. My brain hurts. I'm playing catch-up on everything. If you emailed me, I see it! But it's going to take a few days to get through everything/get back to Inbox Zero.

Before we get into this: Do you have a cool link, fun fact or helpful tip you think is worth the click? Submit it here.

things I love lately 💖

Beachwaver's Pre-Shampoo really helped get rid of my gritty, "anorexia-esque" hair without having to cut it. I used this at my cousin's in July and it's on my to-buy-eventually list. Right now, I'm liking Aussie Miracle Moist (the shampoo/conditioner with the avocado is nut-free).

No one told me banana bread could be so easy to make/didn't need many ingredients. I found a 4-ingredient recipe using eggs and am adapting it to be vegan because I have several cans of unsweetened applesauce. I'll share the recipe once I sort it out. 😉

Watching my cat groom herself, playing with her with the wand toy...these things are bringing me joy 💖

Innuendos? I don't recognize them...I think they're funny jokes because they sound funny, or I think they're literal...like "Netflix and chill" -- and say them to brand reps as conversation. 🙈

10 tips for writing DID characters for people who don't have DID.

Does #ActuallyAutistic exclude self-/undiagnosed autistic people? No, and why is it up for discussion? And why are people saying to boycott it? Seriously. The emotional labor I + others put in 10 years ago is starting to feel pointless.

You might be autistic if...

I made a 40 before 40 list + found my 13 before 30 review in my drafts.

things that made me go 🤔🧐

I'm not buying anything I can't wear, eat or use (unless it's a notebook and pens) right now because I'm moving across the country next year and want to "start over" on a lot of things, so this is like a bookmark: Pink Tiger Games look like cute, G-rated versions of Cards Against Humanity, and OMG I WANT THEM ALL. (found out about these from a friend)

Do you watch Big Brother (US)? I feel like this season needs to be scrapped and redone. 😒 They can't backdoor anyone with this AI comp 😭 ALSO: Moving forward, people should have to keep any upgrade/secret power a secret. It ruins the gameplay IMO.

blogging bytes 👩‍💻

I'm hosting a few bundles. I put out an app for one I'm hosting in February of next year. Newsletter subs can ignore the subscriber min.

On getting invited to in-person events: Stop waiting around and start asking. Look up events happening nearby that you're interested in + would be a good fit for your blog/social channel, research it, then reach out like, "Hi! I'm so excited for X, especially [sponsor vendor] and [vendor]. Do you have a blogger/influencer/press team?" if you don't see a link to apply to be on their press team.

(It really IS this simple. The worst that happens is they say no.)

Back links aren't that important. I don't build back links, but psychology professionals have quoted/referenced my posts and linked to my respective post as the source. Building back links/relying on them is also unreliable, anyway, because links die.
